Seasons of the Sea in Bintan

Northeast Monsoon
(December – early April)
December brings increased rainfall before Christmas, followed by dry weather with strong winds, sunny days, and occasional showers — ideal for kitesurfing and body-boarding on choppier seas.
Inter-monsoon Break
(mid-April – mid-June)
Typically warm and sunny with little wind and brief rain showers. This marks the beginning of snorkelling, paddle-boarding, and kayaking season in calm seas.
Southwest Monsoon
(mid-June – September)
It begins with more frequent local showers, then transitions to sunny, cooler weather from southerly winds. Wind conditions can suit kitesurfing, but it's mostly perfect for snorkelling, paddling, and kayaking in Mutiara Bay.
Second Inter-monsoon Break
(late September – November)
A transitional season with light winds and generally good weather, occasionally interrupted by brief daily showers — still excellent for exploring the bay with water activities before the Northeast Monsoon returns.

About Insects
We all love nature... As a matter of fact, nature is our resort’s main asset. As such nature defines our identity as being “off the beaten tracks”. We take you out of the city, by proposing a retreat that brings you back to basic values. One of the reasons you have considered our resort as your preferred holiday destination is probably for its pristine natural environment… this is especially relevant if you are living in a vertical urban landscape, or concrete jungle! So how about insects?... We sometimes see them appear in guest reviews, as being the archetype of nuisance that should be banned, as their presence could spoil the holiday experience of unsuspecting tourists.

Well, perhaps should we reminisce about the classic writings by Joseph Conrad or Somerset Maugham… picturing peaceful tropical evenings spent on a veranda, contemplating insects buzzing around the old kerosene lamp? Insects are indeed an integral part of any healthy, sustainable ecosystem. Our duty as eco-resort managers, is to strike a careful balance between the comfort of our guests and a natural biodiversity that, for instance, feeds many birds. We are keeping the population of unfriendly insects (mosquitoes & sandflies) to a bare minimum, with daily passive breeding control measures as well as active weekly targeted spraying or fogging of specific areas, within our land.

All guest rooms are equipped with mosquito nets, insecticide spray, mosquito coils and repellent cream sachets. Guests also get a practical flyer at check in, with recommendations for a pleasant stay, and a sign is posted in their room. Having done the best we can, we then have to surrender to the powers of nature – rainy days often see a temporary small surge of insects – and to the best judgement of our dear guests, who hopefully will follow our suggestions.
